CAPABILITIES
Data
Operational data is usually scattered: accounting software, a spreadsheet per department, and a few old systems only one person still knows how to use. The Data group pulls those into one source trustworthy enough to decide from.
What we do
We start by listing the data sources that exist and who holds them, then standardise naming, units and timestamps — most reporting errors come from there, not from the formulas.
Next is the path the data takes: where it comes from, where it is cleaned, who may edit it, and which copy is the right one. Once that path is clear, adding a report is adding a segment.
When to start
When two departments give two different numbers for the same question.
When the monthly report waits on one person assembling it by hand.
When old data has to be kept but nobody dares delete it.
What this needs from both sides
- A list of data sources and the owner of each.
- Rules for naming, units and time zone.
- The cleaning path and where the trusted copy lives.
- Reports that can be rebuilt from the raw data.
